History

The current business was established over 30 years ago by brothers, Brian & Luke Comer, originally from Co. Galway, Ireland.

Both men gained a wealth of practical “hands-on” construction experience, having spent their formative years as contract plasterers. From relatively humble beginnings in 1971, they rapidly developed a countrywide reputation for their high quality plastering. This resulted in the Comers being awarded major contract work on many of Ireland’s largest construction projects in both the public and private sectors. From 1971-1984 plastering contracts completed by the Comers included:

Public sector: Cork Regional Hospital, NET Cork (semi-state) and over 40 IDA (Industrial Development Authority, semi-state) advanced factory developments.

Private sector: Factories for Avonmore Co-op, Kerry Co-op and Dairygold (Ballyclough), three of the UK & Ireland’s largest food companies. Premises for leading multi-national pharmaceutical manufacturers, Wyeth and Warner Lambert. Dooradoyle Shopping Centre and over 50 office and residential developments in the greater Dublin area.

On arrival in London in 1984, their first year was spent plastering several residential schemes while gaining valuable knowledge and insight into the UK market.

Nowadays the directors and senior executives of The Comer Group comprise a highly experienced, flexible and dynamic management team with the ability to significantly grow the business and its increasing residential development division in particular. A unique attribute is the ability to source sites with potential that often others have overlooked. Comer Homes is renowned for the imagination and elegance of it’s developments.
